We recently built this custom titanium electric mountain bike for a 6’8″ gentleman who has been living in Cambodia. We got the pleasure of getting to work with him and found him very interesting. He chose many years ago to move to Southeast Asia. He has developed a career in advertising and has lived in Vietnam and Cambodia. .

When he contacted us the first thing he asked was if we could ship an e-bike to Cambodia. We never want to turn down a cool project, so we were confident we would be able to figure it out. I told him the bike would not be a problem, but we would likely need to have the battery shipped directly from the manufacturer to him due to shipping regulations of lithium ion batteries.

As we progressed with producing the bike, the agent at the Bosch Distributor, Saris researched ways to get the battery to Cambodia. After months of asking and researching, we found out that we could not do it. It could not go into Cambodia via airplane shipment. Once I broke the bad news to the customer, we started putting our heads together. He had a friend who was bringing over a shipping container from the US and would be able to transport the bike with the battery installed on the ship. Problem solved, although he would now have to wait months to receive his bike.

I sent him an email recently to check and see if he had received it yet, but he told me he was still waiting. But then I was thrilled to get an email from him this past weekend saying that he finally received the bike and it fits like a glove. It’s nice to know that a custom bike that made it to the other side of the world is making it’s new owner happy. He told us that the bike has drawn a lot of attention amongst his mountain biking friends there and they all wanted to be photographed with the bike. We want to thank him for being so patient, and for sending us these memorable photos. Enjoy that bike!!
